Will Gilkey, 55, of Bowling Green, said its been about 25 years since he last visited a professional barber, whenever he needs a trim his girlfriend of 30 years Lois Long, of Bowling Green, grabs the scissors. Gilkey explains his first haircut from Long was a disaster, ” I was too embarrassed to go out in public,” Gilkey laughed. Gilkey and Long met 30 years ago through a mutual friend and have been together ever since. They do not plan on ever getting married, “We have been together longer than most married couples, and a piece of paper is not going to make out bond any tighter,” Gilkey said. Gilkey and Long live their lives in what they call the pre Ronald Reagan days when America was traveling in a different direction, “My generation the Baby Boomers sold their souls, became greedy, we thought we were going to save the world, we can’t even save ourselves,” he explains. Gilkey said that in the 1980’s when many people he knew changed their views on how to live he didn’t he says his views of free living manifested deeper within him, ” A lot of people from my generation see me now and holler at me to get my hair cut saying its not the 70’s anymore, man, I wish it was,” Gilkey said.

Got to shoot the Class B state semi-final boys basketball game this weekend. Bridgeport is Saginaw's local team they ended up losing 75-53 against Zeeland East. Ive shot like 10 Bridgeport games this season and they really didn't play to their best ability during this game.

Quinton Head, known the world as “Nubs” lost his legs and his fingers at 8 months old after being burned by hot water. Nubs has a hard life ever since, battling a drug addiction and poverty. Nubs attended Western Kentucky University for one semester but could not handle the work load and was forced to withdraw fom his classes, “I’m Not into all that english and math stuff,” said Head. Nubs lives in one bedroom house on Indianola St. with his girlfriend Robin, who has had an equally rough upbringing, she has been living in and out of foster care her whole life. Nubs who has recently been released from jail after a 15 month sentence for trafficking drugs has no plans for the future.“Unfortunate circumstances put me in jail and I wont go back,” Head said. With no main source of income besides selling drugs and selling plasma, the future does not look bright for Nubs, refering to selling drugs.“ I can only do what im good at, and that really isnt much,” Head Said. “This is my life to live and ain’t no one gonn’ stop me,” Said Head.
